Election Details

At the April 25 Town Council Meeting, the Council passed a resolution to ask residents whether permanent fences, including those made of netting, should be prohibited from exceeding 65 feet in height, as outlined in a proposed amendment to the Town Charter.

The single-issue special election took place by mail, with ballots being mailed to registered voters between June 5 and June 12. Completed ballots had to be returned by 7 p.m. on June 27; submitted by mail or dropped off at two designated locations: 4800 Goodman Street and 4750 Signal Tree Drive in Timnath.

The official ballot language asked voters if they want to amend the Town of Timnath Home Rule Charter to prohibit permanent fences taller than 65 feet:

Ballot Issue 1a

Amending the Town of Timnath Home Rule Charter to Prohibit Permanent Fences Over 65 Feet in Height

Shall the Town of Timnath Home Rule Charter be amended to add a new

Section 15.7 prohibiting permanent fences over 65 feet in height,

measured vertically from the base of the fence to the top of the fence,

including fences comprised of netting or screening materials?

As a home rule community, changes to the Town of Timnath Charter must receive voter approval via a ballot question. The special election follows the Timnath Town Clerk’s verification of over 651 signatures collected in support of the charter amendment petition.
