Councilmember Bill Jenkins brings a distinguished background in scientific research, higher education, and business leadership to the Timnath Town Council. With a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Florida State University, Jenkins has extensive academic credentials. He served as a research scientist and educator at the University of California San Francisco Medical School for 16 years. In 1995, he co-founded Scientific Learning, an educational software company based on neuroscience research, and successfully led it to become a publicly traded company by 1999. Jenkins later served as the chief technology officer at Sally Ride Science, a STEM educational company, from 2012 to 2014. A 2023 graduate of Northern Colorado’s Leveraging Local Leaders training program, Jenkins is well-equipped to bring a collaborative and problem-solving approach to his role on the Timnath Town Council.
Councilmember Jenkins is motivated by a desire to have a greater impact on Timnath’s governmental processes and to enhance community engagement. His key objectives include growing meaningful civic engagement opportunities, maintaining a healthy capital reserve through prudent financial management, and pursuing innovative solutions for non-potable water resources. Additionally, Jenkins is committed to ensuring community safety by supporting the Timnath Police Department’s 24/7 operations and fostering proactive economic development. He feels passionately about supporting the town’s Old Town business district. Jenkins’ extensive community involvement, including founding the non-profit Guide Our Growth, serving as a CASA for CASA of Larimer County, and serving on the Carnegie Learning Literacy Advisory Board, underscores his dedication to fostering a vibrant and well-connected community in Timnath.
