Safe Routes to School Rolls Through Bethke Elementary

October 2, 2025

We’re excited to share that our first-ever Safe Routes to School program in Timnath just wrapped up at Bethke Elementary, and it was a huge success! The program helped 182 students, including 7 adaptive students, gain confidence, independence, and life-long bike and pedestrian safety skills.

Students participated in both classroom and outdoor lessons, learning about:

  • Safe pedestrian and biking practices
  • Navigating crossings, signs, and traffic
  • Healthy habits and staying active

Thanks to Bike Fort Collins for leading the program, Scheels for discounting bikes for our new bike trailer, and Bethke Elementary for supporting this initiative.

Impact by the Numbers:

  • 91 student bikes received safety checks
  • 11 students participated in “Learn to Ride”
  • 4 learned to ride for the first time!
  • 56 program bikes used
  • 15 sessions conducted
  • 45.5 total miles ridden
  • 20 volunteers donated 17 hours of time
  • 30 adults participated (staff, volunteers, etc.)

Up next: Timnath Elementary later this month!

We’re proud to bring this impactful program to our schools and can’t wait to see it continue to grow.
