Public asked to respect trail closures as final segment of Poudre River Trail is completed

December 19, 2025

Note: The following press release was issued by the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources. The Town of Timnath is sharing this information to keep residents informed.

Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) is actively constructing the final segment of the Poudre River Trail between south Timnath and north Windsor. To ensure public safety and to keep the project on track for completion, recreators are asked to respect all posted closures and remain out of the construction area.

Recently, closure fencing and signage have been removed, damaged or bypassed by trail users. Entering the closure area puts the public at risk and creates unsafe conditions for construction crews working with heavy equipment in the area. LCDNR asks the community’s cooperation in observing all closure signage and barricades until construction is complete.

The last segment of the Poudre River Trail project includes a 10-foot-wide concrete trail and a bridge over the Greeley No. 2 Canal. The $2 million project is being constructed by Connell Resources and funded by Great Outdoors Colorado, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and other grant partners. Construction is expected to be completed by late spring 2026.
