April 10, 2025

The Town of Timnath extends heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Police Chief Terry Jones, who is retiring after guiding the Timnath Police Department through a period of transition and development.
Chief Jones, who began his service in Timnath as Interim Chief in November 2019, brought more than four decades of law enforcement experience to the role. Before joining Timnath, he served in key leadership positions across Colorado, including Deputy Chief in Aurora, where he led during significant moments such as the 2012 movie theater tragedy and the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and Interim Police Chief for Fort Collins in 2017.
“Chief Jones’ steady hand and deep experience helped guide our department forward during a time of transition,” said Mayor Robert Axmacher. “His impact will be felt for years to come as we continue building on the strong foundation he helped set.”
Under his leadership, the Timnath Police Department made important strides toward enhancing public safety services and strengthening community trust. As the Town continues to grow, the groundwork laid by Chief Jones served as a crucial stepping stone in achieving the goal of a fully staffed, 24/7 police department in 2024. His tenure as Chief ensured stability and brought seasoned guidance during a time when leadership and direction were greatly needed.
As Chief Jones begins his well-earned retirement, the Town of Timnath wishes to express its deepest appreciation for his service, dedication, and leadership.
Thank you, Chief Jones, for your unwavering commitment to public service.
