Municipal Elections
Candidate Qualification Summary
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible to be elected to the office of Mayor or Councilmember:
- A citizen of the United States of America;
- A registered elector of the Town;
- A resident of the Town for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the election;
- At least eighteen (18) years of age at the time he or she takes office;
- Not have been convicted of a felony;
- Not be an employee of the Town. Any Town employee elected or appointed as Mayor or a Councilmember shall be deemed to have resigned as an employee of the Town on the date of taking office; and
- Not be a candidate for both Mayor and Councilmember at the same election.
2026 Election
The Town will hold a regular election on April 7, 2026, for the Town Council.

There will be two at-large seats for Councilmembers (4-year and 7-month term each) on the ballot.

Voter Information
- In-person voting will be available on Election Day, April 7th, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Town Center, 4750 Signal Tree Drive. To vote in person please bring a valid ID and your voter registration information.
- The Town of Timnath ballot box will be open starting March 16 and will close at 7:00 p.m. on April 7th. Completed mail ballots can be dropped off at the 24-hour ballot box located at Town Center, 4750 Signal Tree Drive.
- Newly registered voters who have not received a mail ballot may vote in person on Election Day at Town Center.
February 3 | Lot drawing for order of names on the ballot
February 6 | Campaign Contributions Reports required to be filed with the Town Clerk
March 9 | Campaign Contributions Reports required to be filed with the Town Clerk
March 16| First day mail ballots can be mailed out.
March 23 | Election judges are appointed and Campaign Contributions Reports required to be filed with the Town Clerk
March 27 | Election Notice Published
April 7 | Election Day (Ballots due by 7:00 p.m.)
April 17 | Certification of the Election
May 7 | Campaign Contributions Reports required to be filed with the Town Clerk
