Town of Timnath in Preparation for Potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)

January 15, 2026

The Town of Timnath is preparing for the likely Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) planned by Xcel Energy due to elevated wildfire risk on Friday, Jan. 16. The power shutoff period is estimated to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Town staff are coordinating to ensure essential services remain operational when outages occur.

Traffic signals remain a top priority. Crews and generators are on standby to keep key intersections operating safely and efficiently throughout any shutoff. However, any intersections that are completely dark or flashing should be treated as a four-way stop. Critical Town facilities, including the Public Works and Police Department buildings, are equipped with backup power and ready should conditions change. Town Center and the Police Department receive electricity from Poudre Valley REA and are not expected to be affected by the shutoff.

Residents are encouraged to follow the Town’s official social media channels for updates about local impacts. For detailed, real‑time information about how a PSPS may affect individual homes or businesses, including outage boundaries and restoration timelines, residents should follow their power provider directly.
