Public Notice: Avian Influenza in Timnath Reservoir Area

February 25, 2025

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has confirmed the presence of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Larimer County, which is affecting wild bird populations, including geese at Timnath Reservoir and nearby ponds.

CPW has advised that the public avoid handling sick or dead birds and allow nature to take its course, as they will not be removing affected wildlife. While HPAI primarily affects birds, residents should take precautions by keeping pets away from sick or deceased wildlife and practicing good hygiene if contact occurs.
