The Town of Timnath is fortunate to claim multiple open spaces and recreational areas as valuable resources for community members to enjoy. One of these recreational areas is the Timnath Community Park, located south of Bethke Elementary School. While the park offers a multitude of opportunities for recreational play thanks to an impressive playground structure, it is important to keep safety top-of-mind — especially during the winter months.
Winter storms can bring snow in varying amounts. Snow accumulation, paired with subsequent melting and re-freezing, may present a hazard to children and adults utilizing playground equipment because these slippery surfaces increase the potential for slips and falls. Lower temperatures also cause snow and ice to collect and remain on playground equipment and safety surfaces. Protective surfaces designed to absorb impacts from falls may not be as forgiving during the winter.
The Town strongly recommends families and children utilize play structures and other park amenities with caution during the colder months, even on warm sunny afternoons. If you do utilize any of Timnath’s parks, please take note of shady and frozen areas.
