Here is an overview of what has been happening in Timnath’s trail world:
Poudre River Trail:
This project is being built in partnership with Larimer County, Great Outdoors Colorado, CDOT, the City of Fort Collins, and the Town of Windsor. Many segments of this comprehensive project are complete, but there are a few Timnath-specific areas still outstanding.
- I-25 underpass at the Poudre River
This section will be completed following the completion of CDOT’s construction on I-25. We anticipate that connection will be complete late next year or early in 2023.
- River Bluff Open Space
The connection to the south toward Windsor/Larimer County is largely outside the town boundaries, but the small section within the Town limits that will be combined with the County’s trail project. That work is anticipated in 2022-23 to hopefully align with the work at I-25.
The portions through the rest of Timnath are mostly complete and are made up of a series of trails and sidewalks that parallel streets. The Town will install signage to direct trail users in conjunction with the remaining trail work in 2022-23
Timnath Reservoir Outlet Canal (TROC) Trail
The TROC trail section north of Harmony Road that will ultimately connect to Timnath Reservoir has some access challenges and timing issues. The portion just north of Harmony Road will traverse through Timnath Landing, where developer improvements will occur before the trail extensions are made. Closer to Buss Grove Road, there are access issues. The Town doesn’t own land or have an easement to continue north of Timnath Landing to the Reservoir. The Town is currently exploring options for extending the trail to the Reservoir.
The Town Council recently approved construction of a segment of the TROC trail in Timnath Ranch, south of Harmony Road, and we will now contract to complete the trail section starting in October. That work will most likely be completed later this fall or early in 2022.
There is a new trail segment being constructed up at Wildwing this fall that will feature a trail on the north side of Wildwing Park and connect into the existing sidewalk network.
Timnath Reservoir Trails
The Town is currently constructing trails on the Timnath Reservoir property. There are soft trails and hard surface trails. This work will be completed this fall.
