Andrew Overmiller moved from his hometown of San Antonio, TX to Timanth because he felt called to serve at Living Rock Church, a Christian church that meets in the Walker Manufacturing facilities at 4600 Three Bell. He’d visited the church as a guest speaker on a youth retreat weekend, and decided he wanted to come work at the church full time.

He now serves as the church’s youth pastor, where he disciples students in the Timnath community and leads small groups.

“The part of my job that brings the most joy is walking alongside students,” Andrew said. “Not just hanging out, but building relationships and walking through life with them.”

Andrew loves watching Timnath students grow and change over time.

“You see this amazing transformation in a student’s life when they accept Jesus as their savior,” he said. “It is like a light just flips on and you get to experience change. Change that is hard to describe but is incredible to watch.”

Andrew lives in the Timnath Trails neighborhood and loves being a part of the Timnath community. He’s appreciative of how open and welcoming people have been towards him, even when he was brand new to the area. His favorite local spot is the coffee shop in Old Town Timnath, where he likes to go and decompress.

“The atmosphere is great and the coffee is top-notch,” he said. “I love going there and just relaxing.”

Outside of work, Andrew loves sports and watching sporting events, especially basketball—he’s a big San Antonio Spurs fan.

If you’re interested in Living Rock Church or any of its youth programs, Andrew recommends coming by on a Sunday to check it out. They meet on Sundays at 10 a.m. and in smaller groups throughout the week.

“At Living Rock Church we want to have people come in and feel loved,” he said. “Not just to come and spectate. We want our love of Christ to overflow in the way we love the people around us.”
