Local and regional partnerships are vital to the community and ensure the Town has a seat at the table when decisions are being made. The Town of Timnath works closely with other organizations to save money and improve essential services. Some of our valued partners include Larimer County, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Poudre School District (PSD), and Poudre Fire Authority (PFA), to name a few. Here’s an overview of how those partnerships benefit our residents.

Larimer County

The Town and Larimer County work closely together in various ways, but most recently, an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) was formalized to help manage urban development and growth in the area around Timnath. The IGA ensures cooperative, and coordinated planning occurs when development is considered near the Town’s boundary and ensures landowners and residents have the opportunity to provide feedback on new projects in the identified Growth Management Area.

Poudre School District

The Town and PSD recently approved a Payment in Lieu of Land Agreement (PILO) which allows the Town to require developers to dedicate a portion of land to the school district for the development of new schools or pay a fee instead. This agreement ensures that our school district can meet the community’s need for new school facilities as the Town grows.

Poudre Fire Authority

The Town and PFA are working to implement a Fire Capital Expansion Fee to help the fire department pay for the cost of building a new fire station within the district. The purpose of the fee is to defray the cost of capital facilities needed to serve new development. The Town will collect fees at the same time a building permit is issued, and the cost is typically included in the total fees passed on to the new property owner’s purchase price.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office

Currently, the Sheriff’s Office provides after-hours calls for service and dispatch, jail and mutual aid support to the Town. As the Town’s police department grows and moves toward a fully functioning, 24/7 department, the Sheriff’s Office has provided valuable police services and responds to critical incidents in the community.
