A new Poudre School District (PSD) elementary school, located south of State Highway 392 near Highland Meadows in Windsor, will impact school boundaries in Timnath, starting in the fall of 2021.
Over the past several years, the continued population growth in Timnath, Windsor, Wellington and Fort Collins has created the need for additional schools within the district. PSD voters approved a $375 million bond and $8 million mill levy override in 2016 to fund two new combined middle school/high schools, a new elementary school, as well as build a district athletics complex, transportation maintenance facility, and an addition to Zach Elementary School. The funds will also be used for improvements at existing district schools. For more information about the projects, visit PSD’s website.
The new schools and facilities improvements are part of the district’s plan to accommodate current and anticipated student growth.
Ground was broken on the three new schools this spring, and COVID-19 is not expected to delay construction, as of June 2020. The new elementary school, located in the City of Loveland limits and near Windsor, will open its doors in the fall of 2021 and thereby necessitate a change to school boundaries for Bethke, Bacon, and Timnath Elementary schools. During the July 14 meeting, PSD staff provided an update to Council. View the presentation.
School boundaries are used to determine each resident’s neighborhood school and bus route information. To view specific boundary maps, visit PSD’s School Boundaries and Maps webpage.
It is anticipated that the PSD Board of Education will vote to approve the southeast elementary school’s official name this fall.
