An official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Town Center Building was held on Thursday, August 23! Mayor Jill Grossman-Belisle was joined by Town Manager, April Getchius, Town staff, Councilmembers, Planning Commissioners, representatives of Brinkman Construction, and others to “officially” break ground for this exciting project.
More about the Project:
To better serve the residents of Timnath and provide for greater community space, construction has begun on the new Town Center Buildling (illustrations below). The Town of Timnath’s administration building is currently located at 4800 Goodman Street in an industrial metal building. The community and Town administration have outgrown the structure.
“Our current facility has one conference room that serves as Town Council chambers, municipal court room, conference room for multiple meetings, police training room and more.” said April Getchius. “The limited space does not allow us to provide for a community space where organizations such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local clubs or even family reunions can be held. The new building will provide that space for community groups, events, and meetings.
The Community Room on the east end of the new building will open onto a patio space and will be available to the public. In addition, the room includes a small serving kitchen that will allow for serving of potlucks or even catering. The expanded space will also allow for more public outreach and education, and as our community grows this is an important need. In addition, our residents who work from home and need meeting space can also reserve a conference room to meet with their customer or clients. We are also working with the library district to have a book drop off and pick up at the Town Center building.
Most importantly, we cannot grow the Police Department to obtain 24/7 coverage unless we can vacate space in the existing building. Additional police coverage and public safety was a #1 priority among our residents.”
Construction on the new building began this summer and is expected to be completed late spring of 2019. The building is located in the Riverbend Subdivision, directly north of PFA fire station 8, and is consistent with the Town’s adopted strategic plan for Timnath’s future growth. It will serve the Town and its residents well for years to come.
