In 2018, Timnath residents ranked the Timnath Police Department Facility project as their #1 priority. Further, residents ranked public safety as their top priority. Since 2015 Town Staff has been working toward building a new police department facility when it was envisioned as part of a Civic Center Complex that included the Town Center and Poudre Fire Authority Fire Station #8.
During the March 10 Meeting, Town Council heard an update on the Public Safety Building. This presentation was built off of the State of the Police Department presentation that was given on February 25. The project team has been meeting to continue moving the project forward since the Police Building design contract was awarded on May 14.
The first task was to develop a programming document that showed the needs of the department. The next step was to develop conceptual floor plans and site plans based on the programming needs.
In addition, the design team has visited three different police stations in Windsor, Erie and Firestone. At each of these visits, a member of the Police Department tours of their facility and answered questions about what what they felt did and did not work. Both Chief Wagner and Chief Jones also reached out to several other departments to get feedback on their facilities, again trying to learn from the mistakes and successes of other departments.
The presentation, delivered by the design team, is below.
